M. Jeffrey Vinzani

In 2012, Jeff Vinzani opened the Charleston office of the firm after over 20 years as an Equity Partner at a large regional law firm. Jeff practices commercial real estate and banking law.

Although he practices in many areas of business law, Jeff’s primary focus is on complex real estate and finance transactions. His real estate experience includes commercial, office, retail, resort, residential and industrial development and leasing. Jeff also handles permitting, zoning, development agreements, 1031 exchange transactions, property owners’ association matters and title insurance.

His finance experience encompasses real estate lending, asset-based lending and secured transactions. Jeff possesses extensive experience representing a wide variety of financial institutions in complex transactions, as well as workouts, loan sales, collections and debt modifications.

Jeff is extensively engaged in the community and the state. From 2015 to 2022, Jeff served as a member of the Board of Trustees of South Carolina State University, the only public Historically Black college/university (HBCU) in South Carolina. Jeff is past Chairman of the Real Estate Practices Section of the South Carolina Bar and served as the Council’s House Delegate. He has served two terms as Chairman of the Developers Council of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, comprised of members of the Chamber who represent a number of sectors of the real estate development community. Jeff is currently serving as a member of the Community Advisory Board for Truist Bank. Jeff also served on the Transition Team for State Treasurer Curtis Loftis as Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Board of Financial Institutions and was co-author of the Treasurer’s Transition Report.

Jeff is Peer Review Rated – Av (Preeminent) in Martindale-Hubbell; he is listed in Chambers USA – Best in His Field – Real Estate Law and has been listed in the prestigious Best Lawyers in America since 2010; named to Legal Elite of the Lowcountry, Charleston Business Magazine.

Jeff is a contributing author of the book Practical Guide to Commercial Real Estate in South Carolina (S.C. Bar Press, 2012) and its Second Edition (S.C. Bar Press, 2023).

Jeff is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and is the Founder of the 70,000+ member ICSC Group on LinkedIn.

As a member of the Urban Land Institute, Jeff serves on the ULI SC’s Statewide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. Previously, Jeff was chosen to participate in the 2011 ULI SC Sustainable Leadership Institute which is a six month program in which the participants engage with national experts and policy makers in small group, focused settings to better understand land use issues facing South Carolina.

Jeff graduated with Honors in Economics from South Carolina College, the Honors College of the University of South Carolina. He received his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

While at USC, Jeff served as President of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Student Government Senator and Secretary of the Interfraternity Council. He was a member of the Student Alumni Association, Omicron Delta Kappa, Omicron Delta Epsilon and Magna Kappa Honorary Fraternity. He received the USC Outstanding Senior Award and was named to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.

As an alumnus of the University of South Carolina, Jeff has served as the Ninth Circuit Governor on the Board of Governors of the University of South Carolina, and was honored by the University’s Honors College with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Jeff is also a member of the Horseshoe Society and serves on the Partnership Board of the Honors College of USC. He also served as President of the Charleston County Carolina Alumni Club.

Locally, Jeff serves as a Member of the Gaillard Foundation, a Member of the Spoleto Society, a Founding Member of the Daniel Island Yacht Club, and was a Vice President and Member of the Board of Trustees of the Charleston Stage Company, a local theater group based in historic Dock Street Theater.  Jeff is also a licensed real estate broker and is an Associate Member of the Commercial Investment Division (CID) of the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors.

Jeff has presented seminars on commercial real estate and social media at the Crittenden Real Estate Finance Conference, Crittenden National Real Estate Conference, South Carolina Association of Legal Administrators, at ICSC RECON, Lowcountry Business Network and ICSC Carolinas Idea Exchange.
